We all know that Olympic games are stopping the world: it is inevitable to be stagnant in front of the tv watching all that’s going on: after all, it is an already historical tradition.

What we may not know is all the preparations behind all the scene, in order to make all glamorous and perfect. One example of that is the London 2012 Olympic Cauldron designed by Thomas Heatherwick, unveiled at the opening ceremony of the games.

This beautiful object of design consists of 204 copper petals, each representing one of the competing nations, which were brought into the stadium by each team. During the show, they were attached to long pipes in a ring at the centre of the arena.
