Eugenia Loli’s portrait
Vintage world is Delightfull’s home, so, we couldn’t pass up the retro work of Eugenia Loli. The California-based artist digitally manipulates vintage photos, creating collages with odd and interrogative ambiances. Loli has already a large fan base on tumblr. However, her work doesn’t restrict itself to the Internet: she deepens her work by creating tangible prints and pieces.
Loli’s work is undeniably inspired by surrealism and modern collagists, presenting a sense of mistery, interrogation and intrigue. Simultaneously, it’s oddly pleasant. The retro aesthetic is the Loli’s favourite one: to her, even amateur photos can have real value if the source is truly inspiring.

“Private Auction”
It’s intuitive to deep in “Private Auction”. It really seems to be a 60’s old movie. We have two gentlemen looking at some artwork on the wall, with an auctioneer refereeing them. The auctioneer is holding a telephone on his hands, potentially having more clients on it. The older man on the back has a larger shadow, revealing the possibility of a darker character.
Loli’s goal is to get into the mind of her audience. “I like to make them think a tiny bit about what the work is about, realize one thing for one moment, and then suddenly get hit with another meaning,” she says.
Invariably, messages may lie in the various graphics she composes. “Undeniable Proof,” for example, may awake numerous interpretations according to each culture’s view : it may seem to be a celebration of a woman’s menstruation to an American viewer or a symbol of women’s purity to members of Loli’s culture.

“The Suitors”
The apparently soft work of Loly carriessociopolitical messages pertaining to present and future dilemmas.
