Who said 100 years can’t be sexy? They can, at least when it comes to Miami Beach.
The arty-seaside city celebrates its 100th birthday, can you believe it? 100 years passed by since the day a string of islands facing the Atlantic Ocean took on the name Miami Beach. March 26, 1915 was a blessed day, Alleluia.
And 2 years latter, Miami became a separate city.

Neither gangsters like Al Capone, nor the devastating hurricanes of 1926, or economic storms of the 70s and the more recent subprime crisis were able to destroy the city. And the success of Art Basel Miami Beach was a big help. Since 2002, this internationally acclaimed contemporary art fair has converted the city into a cultural destination of the first order. A host of museums and high-level galleries have emerged in this city, also known as “the capital of Latin America”.

Miami is modernity: the entire metropolis has embraced architecture. Luxury penthouses and condos are being built for the international elite in a thriving hyper-rich cosmopolitan atmosphere. The words are: demolition, reconstruction and renovation.
