Get inspired by a new york loft in Queens Park, London that is filled with vintage pieces.
Laura Burkitt, a lifestyle and event stylist, has bought a two-bedroom flat in Queens Park London with her boyfriend. Laura and her boyfriend loved designing everything themselves. This house was inspired by her travels and is filled with happy memories and antique pieces. If you’re curious, let’s just keep scrolling and take a look at this New York loft.
The first thing we see when we walk in this industrial loft is the vintage wallpaper that is simply dazzling with a modern twist.“I love the Cole & Son palm wallpaper in the hallway. I knew the tropical thing had been done A LOT, but the blue was a little different and it was actually the only color we could both agree on.” said Laura.
“We bought the apartment as we wanted a garden flat, and decided to do an extension and renovation to make more of the space.” Having written travel reviews for Conde Nast Traveller, it’s no wonder Laura’s drawn a lot of her inspiration from her travels. “The flat includes a lot of knick-knacks I have picked up from antique markets, work and my travels. We always bring one thing back from every holiday. I think it’s important to surround yourself with happy memories.”
“We had in mind a New York loft apartment in a London garden, so chose industrial details such as the exposed brick wall, steel Crittall windows and micro-cement floor, then softened the look with lots of bright décor, antique wooden furniture and tactile fabrics.” The dining room decor boasts anindustrial floor lampthat stands out like a sore thumb. We love it!

The bedroom has a color palette that provides a welcoming and personalized atmosphere that transmits coziness and comfort. “The grey suede curtains were an absolute bargain! They were on display in the shop so reduced dramatically. They feel amazing, super luxurious. Although no one is allowed to touch them as they are a nightmare to clean!”
“We originally thought we’d use the spare room as more of an extra TV room (when Ben has sports on!) so we picked a sofa bed. But it turns out, we don’t actually watch as much TV as we thought! It’s been good to have the extra floor space though.” The mid-century modern credenzais without any doubt our favorite piece, adding a refined vibe.

Dandy is a sleek and stylish sideboard. Since it is very versatile, it can be used as a drinks cabinet and be placed both in a living or dressing room. Its body is entirely made of solid walnut wood and it resembles a kitsch radio because of its shape and the use of grill cloth on the doors. It is accented by a brass trim on the body edges and supported by tapered legs with brass ferrules. The best from Scandinavian design roots.
