George Bar & Grill: inspiring lighting

This recent addition to Zurich’s rooftop dining scene combines the ambiance of a penthouse with traditional bar culture.
George Bar & Grill, the penthouse restaurant in the Haus Ober, high above the rooftops of Zurich – with bar, lounge, terrace, drinks and music.
George – that is the name of the new restaurant high above the rooftops of Zurich. The establishment thoroughly emanates the character of the owner from whom it takes its name: elegant, cultivated, distinguished. And as befits a man of the world, George has taken up residence in a penthouse – on the top story of the Ober building in Zurich’s Kreis 1 quarter.
George opened in 2014 in a chic attic apartment on Sihlstrasse. Thanks to its location on the 5th floor of Haus Ober, above the casino, the restaurant-cum-bar enjoys enviable views over Zurich’s rooftops. It has the feel of a modern penthouse, but elegantly incorporates traditional bar culture. There is no missing the imposing bar that consumes the heart of the 500-square metres space, which is timeless in wood and carefully selected hues of turquoise and orange. However, on fine days you can do no better than finding a seat on the terrace, which rounds three sides of the building.
