Thomas Francis Dorsey Junior, as known as Tommy Dorsey was an American jazz trombonist, composer, conductor and bandleader of the big band era. He was born on the 19th of November, 1905, and he passed away 51 years later, unfortunately, on the 26th of November, 1956.
Besides the Tommy Dorsey nickname, he was also known as the “Sentimental Gentleman of Swing”. Probably you know the name Dorsey. Actually Tommy was the younger brother of Jimmy Dorsey. Tommy started getting attention due to his peculiar technical skill on the trombone.
