\u201cI like being alone when I visit a country or historic site. I like being bathed in it\u2019s atmosphere, feeling in direct contact with the place without the intrusion of a third party\u201d<\/strong><\/em>, Charlotte Perriand<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Design<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Charlotte Perriand<\/em><\/strong> was a famous and influent French architect and designer, and her work is still leaving footprints on the field. She was born on the 24th of October, 1903, in Paris. She was \u2018discovered\u2019 by her art teacher that noticed that she had a unique talent for drawing and creating new pieces, therefore, she apllied for the School of the Central Union of Decorative Arts<\/em><\/strong>, in 1920, to study furniture design<\/em><\/strong>. Until her graduations, she provided several design workshops<\/em><\/strong>, and also attended lectures by Maurice Dufrene<\/em><\/strong>. In 1925 she graduated, and her projects from schoolwork were selected to be a part of the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decortifs et Industriels Modernes<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlotte, two years after graduating, decided to renovate her entire apartment and into a room with a built in wall bar made of aluminum, glass and chrome and a card table with built in pool-pocket drink holders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After her studies, during ten years, she worked at Le Corbusier\u2019s studio<\/em><\/strong>. She was in charge of their interiors work and promoting their designs through a series of exhibitions. We don\u2019t need to say that her work was major important for the development of French and worldwide design and how functionality was finally in the equation.

After her work in the design studio<\/em><\/strong>, it\u2019s important to be conscious of the time of History we were dealing with. The war forced Charlotte to leave France, when the Germand arrived to occupy Paris in 1940. She went to Japan and Vietnam, and we can definitely feel the influence of the design of these countries in her work, and the way she changed her vision regarding design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oriental design is quite different from the Ocidential one, specially because the first gives more value to functionality rather than aesthetics. Charlotte is known for her work of creating functional living spaces, where aesthetics finally meet funcionality! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, design was starting to be seen as a way to solve the world\u2019s issues and to create a better society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe extension of the art of dwelling is the art of living\u2014living in harmony with man\u2019s deepest drives and with his adopted or fabricated environment<\/em><\/strong>\u201c, Charlotte Perriand<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can definitely assume that this design professional and architect was one of the biggest influences of the spread of minimalistic design and how a curate design piece should only be added to the home d\u00e9cor if it\u2019s really going to have a function. Besides that, all her design pieces and projects reflect a great passion for the empowerment of society by taking conscious decisions throw design and by going for resused or recycled materials. One fact that is quite curious is that, before she started a project, she was alone in the place to feel a connection with it, so she could appreciate it and evalute its real needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the persons we should be inspired by, and we cannot let their work and sould die! The way we can pay her contribute to us is to continue her hard work among design. <\/p>\n\n\n
