Nowadays, Design Indaba Conference<\/a><\/span><\/em> is considered one of the world\u2019s leading design events<\/a><\/em>, and Cape Town<\/em> is the stage of this amazing design experience<\/em>! Tomorrow will be the last day, however if you didn\u2019t have the chance to attend any of one the conferences, you can check here the highlights!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The African design event<\/a><\/em><\/strong> started on the 26th of Fabruary, and Saturday will be the last day of amazing conferences, where the main topic is design and how it can be seen as a tool to solve the world\u2019s biggest issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2005, Design Indaba Conference<\/em> was awarded the EIBTM award for Best Conference in the World, and won Best Live Event at the Loerie Awards 2007\u2033<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design Indaba Conference<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is broadcast via live to several cities at a very low price, so they can access the event. This design event has multiples roles such as inspiring, connecting people, finding solutions to complex problems, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n \"DelightFULL<\/a>\n\n\n\n

The opening of Day 1 was full of energy of Sho Madjozi! Music, dance and an incredible fashion and colorful show, where the story telling was about \u201d the history of xibelani, an integral part of Tsonga culture (for example, xibelani skirts are fantastically expensive and most women hope to own at least one in their life)\u201d. She believes that people have to connect more, and embrace other cultures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patrick Thomas<\/em><\/strong> launched at this edition of Design Indaba, the beta version of Open Collab 2.0. This is a \u201ca web-based tool that facilitates real-time collaboration between creatives<\/em> (\u2026) Pa He rolled out the project at design schools last week, and the creative researchers helped to map South Africa from a design perspective\u201d, <\/em>claims Design Indaba<\/em><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanif Kara<\/em><\/strong> was up next, a structural engineers that is concerned about the aesthetics and functionality of buildings \u201cTechnology is binary and has no soul. It doesn\u2019t tell the truth or have moral responsibility. Tools are never innocent. But ethics and respect will inform the future,<\/em>\u201d he stated, adding that he is always on the lookout for beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up next was birthday girl Kathryn Larsen, who turns 25, just like Design Indaba! The bio-based designer explores the construction industry. \u201cWe need to learn from the past to create a better, greener future and start a dialogue about the future of the building industry\u201d. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last, but not least, Bas Timmer\u2019s presentation was probably the most heartwarming one. A pile of 250 Sheltersuits for South Africans \u2013 the presentation was all the more touching because his mother flew out from Holland to see her son\u2019s dream (in which she had a hand) become a reality. \u201cGreat design can make the world a little warmer,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
