Having a big family is one of the biggest blessings of the world, however we have to be admit that certain aspects of our lives, suddendly, become more challenging. A good example of that is having a beautiful and elegant house d\u00e9cor that is, at the same time, kid-proofed, and an adult home. In a conversation with AD Magazine<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, the writer and actor admitted that before redesigning the house, it was a crazy jumble of pieces from different places they\u2019d lived in, all commingling, but not very happily, he called it the island of Misfit furniture<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve been through rough times, however these hard periods of life are what characterized the type of persons we are. We should always try to see the positive part in all aspects of our life, including the hard challenges. Take James as an example, he took this special free time to redecorate his house<\/a><\/em><\/strong> together with his wife and five kids. The main goal was to create a little chaos into a peaceful and harmonious place<\/em><\/strong><\/a> where the family could feel relaxed and zen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The house was decorated by Tammy Price<\/strong><\/em> of Fragments Identity<\/strong><\/em> and kept through the whole process the five kids of James in mind to offer them the best solutions both for James Van der Beek<\/strong><\/em> and his wife as for their kids.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family first request was to create a house that was flexible. We cannot forget that the family has 5 kids, not counting the part when they have guests or friends of the kids. The furniture<\/strong><\/em> must be easy to move from room to room, and from indoors to outdoors<\/strong><\/em>. To the Van der Beek<\/strong><\/em> family, having five kids, and usually a houseful of friends hanging out, flexibility is imperative.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A scandinavian house d\u00e9cor<\/a><\/em><\/strong> with all the details these style requires: white and grey color palette, minimalistic furniture, mid-century modern lighting<\/a><\/em><\/strong> and a mix of different textures to add depth and contrast to the d\u00e9cor. These are the right ingredients to turn a chaos house full of kids into a cozy paradise! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another request of the family was the right balance between having a kid-proofed house and an adult home. Easy washable outdoor materials for fabrics was according to Tammy the best solution for the demands of the family Van der Beek<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe overall impression is tranquil<\/strong><\/em> and welcoming, but there\u2019s still plenty of great energy here,\u201d James Van Der Beek<\/strong><\/em> said. \u201cI can\u2019t overstate how big an impact Tammy has had on our day-to-day lives,\u201d he concluded. \u201cShe treated us with so much care and love. We feel it every time we walk through the front door.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
