It\u2019s a basic human necessity, essential if you are a woman but\u00a0if you are a men too. When it becomes a question of\u00a0\u00a0storing \u00a0your life\u2019s work and the better way to do it you call in the pros! That\u2019s a challenge.<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.interiordesign.net\/media\/easy_thumbnails\/photos\/41\/thumbs_57218-stairs-04-house-art-studio-urbanstudios-0715.jpg.1064x0_q90_crop_sharpen.jpg\" alt=\"Learning how to Storage: Domingo's Lopes Porto House\" width=\"670\" height=\"670\"><br>\nHe responded with two vertical systems that take advantage of the high ceilings, particularly in the studio-archive on the lowest level. One wall down here anchors racks for paintings. Great idea!<br>\nBut the main attraction is the freestanding 10-foot-wide OSB structure that begins as a grid of cubbies and rises, in different forms, through every level. Access to upper sections of both the racks and the cubbies is easy, no ladders required, thanks to the house\u2019s central staircase, which runs alongside.<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.interiordesign.net\/media\/easy_thumbnails\/photos\/41\/thumbs_54997-stairs-house-art-studio-urbanstudios-0715.jpg.1064x0_q90_crop_sharpen.jpg\" alt=\"Learning how to Storage: Domingo's Lopes Porto House\" width=\"671\" height=\"447\"><br>\nOn the main level, the OSB form contains the kitchen\u2019s upper and lower cabinets, including a sink\u00a0and cooktop\u2014in a sense, the kitchen is largely \u201cstored\u201d as well. Pearly gray plastic laminate fronts the cabinets. Opposite this compact setup stands an island wrapped in a glossy white quartz composite, and the nearby wall that houses the oven, microwave, and refrigerator is painted an equally bright white.<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-934 size-full alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.delightfull.eu\/en\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/news-670.jpg\" alt=\"news-670\" width=\"670\" height=\"97\" srcset=\"https:\/\/delightfull.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/news-670.jpg 670w, https:\/\/delightfull.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/news-670-300x43.jpg 300w, https:\/\/delightfull.eu\/inspirations\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/news-670-293x42.jpg 293w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\"><br>\n\u00a0<br>\n\u00a0<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.interiordesign.net\/media\/easy_thumbnails\/photos\/30\/thumbs_26547-kitchen-house-art-studio-urbanstudios-0715.jpg.1064x0_q90_crop_sharpen.jpg\" alt=\"Learning how to Storage: Domingo's Lopes Porto House\" width=\"671\" height=\"449\"><br>\nTo bring a warmer touch to a palette dominated by cool colors, he laid a swath of typically Portuguese green-and-white tile on the kitchen floor, a major departure from the gray-tinted concrete elsewhere.<br>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.interiordesign.net\/media\/easy_thumbnails\/photos\/97\/thumbs_12923-coffee-table-house-art-studio-urbanstudios-0715.jpg.0x1064_q90_crop_sharpen.jpg\" alt=\"Learning how to Storage: Domingo's Lopes Porto House\" width=\"670\" height=\"1006\"><br>\nHe calls the living spaces, which culiminate with a mezzanine above the kitchen, \u201ca vertical loft\u201d with almost no doors. There are, however, doors on the two full bathrooms he managed to shoehorn in. The\u00a0one on the mezzanine is windowless and tiny, at 30 square feet, but impressively feels neither claustrophobic nor cramped. \u201cIt takes a lot of persistence to design for small spaces like these,\u201d he says.
