The Apple Regent Street<\/em><\/strong> opened this month in London with a brand new\u00a0layout featuring Apple\u2019s latest design thinking.\u00a0Including a\u00a0central grand hall filled with trees surrounded by window displays, the store features the\u00a0Apple\u2019s town square layout.\u00a0The square\u2019s theater, the Forum, hosts daily entertainment and learning events.

\nThe project was made by Apple and\u00a0Foster + Partner, that made an amazing work cleaning and preserving the Grade II-listed building\u00a0exterior facade of Portland stone,\u00a0Carrara marble and hand-cut Venetian smalti glass tile. The building features an open-plan layout and a\u00a0double-height grand hall bringing more natural light and\u00a0transparency from the street. With identical staircases of sandblasted and honed Castagna stone handrails hand carved into the stone walls draw visitors up to the new mezzanine level set in tree tops above the grand hall.

\n\u201cOn Regent Street we preserved the incredible exterior facade while opening up the interior of the store to enhance the transparency and flood the space with natural light,\u201d explained\u00a0Apple\u2019s chief design officer. \u201cBy choosing materials sympathetic to the historic nature of the building, we\u2019re able to modernize the space while remaining authentic to its surrounds.\u201d

The store team counts with 512 employees with more than 20 nationalities and speaking more than 30 languages.\u00a0Of the 100 employees who originally opened the store, more than a quarter remain at Apple.<\/p>\n

The Apple Regent Street was the first store of the brand in Europe\u00a0having welcomed more than 60,000,000 visitors since 2004.<\/p>\n
