The main goal of the design company is not to create art, but to explore ways to incorporate art in our daily basis. One of the motto of One Over One is actually a quote from the unique, Oscar Wilde, that died saying “It’s me or these terrible flower wallpapers”.
We are surrounded by aesthetics, and nowadays it’s important to find the perfect balance betweed beauty and functionality. The studio is characterized by a Babylonian style, since Bal El means ‘to mix’ and it is precisely what the team of design professional does – mix. They mix different cultures, styles, concepts, color palettes, aesthetics, not following any rule, and, in their own way, they are able to create something completely new. Today, we’ll open the doors of one of their amazing design projects: an art déco inspired apartment in the Russian city of St Petersburg. UNIQUE, PASSIONATE & INTRIGUING

Welcome, and please come in! A design firm that challenges rules, but this particular residential apartment has definitely some art déco touch. Art Déco was a style very popular in the late 20’s and 30’s, and it’s the design that mixes glamour and sophistication with modernity. Repetition, geometric design, clean lines and bold shapes and colors are what best characterizes it.
In this living room décor, full of natural light, we can see the clean lines and neutral colors mixed with the blue and yellow of the mid-century armchairs and single sofa. The rug is playing an important role in this set, since it’s adding a little bit of modern design with the abstract shape and colors.

Now, nearly 100 years later, the (art déco) style can take on a whole new meaning that blends modern and retro vibes
