James Bond is one of the most well-known and classy characters of all time. With 24 movies to its name and embodied by some of the most iconic actors in the history of Hollywood, the MI-6 agent is one of the most recognizable and quotable characters ever.
Sean Connery is arguably the most iconic actor to ever embody His Royal Highness’ secret agent, he’s also the first. Connery and Bond embody luxury and lavishness and their 60’s and 70’s blockbuster movies fit like a glove with some of DelightFULL‘s most emblematic mid-century modern products.

1. 007 James Bond – Dr. No: Miles Floor Lamp

Mid-century lamps for the classic bond
Dr. No is James Bond’s first movie, it is set in Jamaica and features Honey Rider, the first ever Bond girl, and Dr. No, the Bond Villain that lends its name to the movie title. The villain’s hideout is built into a cave on an island called Crab Key and much to the apanage of the 007 films, the cave is decorated in luxury and lavishness. There are no chandeliers or places to put one, so that’s why we think that the Miles modern floor lamp, one of DelightFULL’s most iconic mid-century lamps would be a perfect moodsetter in that luxurious cave. Be it for a villain’s cove, or a luxurious manner, this modern floor lamp is the embodiment of modern luxury.

2. From Russia With Love – Matheny

From Russia With Love, from 1963, came out on the peak of the Cold War era, and features a strong statement of “American luxury” in its sets. DelightFULL embodies luxury, but there is no mid-century lamp more lavish than the Matheny. It fits the aesthetic of the whole movie as well as Tatiana Romanova’s seductive personality and Bond’s classy demeanor.

3. GoldFinger: Etta Chandelier

Lavish, luxurious, feminine, brilliant. These are all words that we immediately think of when we think of Goldfinger’s Pussy Galore. They are also the words you inevitably think about when you’re struck by the sight of the Etta chandelier. There are no more words needed to explain why we think these two are the perfect match.

4. You Only Live Twice: Sinatra

There are many things truly iconic in this movie. Be it Ernst Blofeld, the cat wielding, chair spinning, German villain, be it the impressive amazing sets, the theme song, or Aki, the Bond Girl, this movie is full of pop-culture marks. Our choice for this film is the Sinatra mid-century suspension lamp. It is simple, yet extravagant, luxurious and sumptuous. It fits the description of Aki, Nancy Sinatra the theme’s iconic singer, Bond and Blofeld. It’s another perfect match.

5. Diamonds Are Forever: Cannonball

Mid-century lamps for the classic bond
Much like DelightFULL‘s inspiration for our mid-century design, this one is all about the music. Who can forget Shirley Bassey’s golden, silky smooth voice, singing Diamonds Are Forever’s homonymous theme song? It’s an explosion of brilliance, much like the modern light fixture Cannonball, that explodes into golden tubes, lit at the edge by small, DIAMOND-like lamps. At DelightFULL we find inspiration in every single one of our mid-century lamps, but this one just seems to fit the whole movie’s aesthetic.
