Rockwell Group’s downtown New York office, overlooking bustling Union Square, reflects the heart of the city around them. Founded by David Rockwell, the firm’s Manhattan location was established in 1984. Today, with partner Shawn Sullivan and five studio leaders: Gonzalo Bustamante, Cara Cragan, Melissa Hoffman, Greg Keffer and Barry Richards, the office advances our cross-disciplinary approach with a team of creative minds from around the world.
In 2014, to mark the 30th anniversary of the company, the Rockwell Group published a book What If…? The Architecture and Design of David Rockwell. The book itself reflects designers’ interest in materiality and sensory experiences by using innovative and unusual silkscreen, binding, and printing techniques. Narrator and contributor voices are highlighted using different typefaces, bringing personal perspectives and behind the scenes details to life.
