Called “The Shift”, this Feng Shui designed modern home in Paris was a decor project carried out by designer Nicolas Berthou.
Nicolas Berthou is the founding designer of B3D2, a feng shui design studio based in Paris, whose main goal is “create harmony in your residence”. With that said, we ought to know that feng shui (pronounced fung shway) in an ancient Chinese school of thought that examines how the placement of things and objects within a space affects the energy flow of your living environment, and how these objects interact with and influence your personal energy flow.
“The Shift” project’s main goal was to follow the homeowner through his own life changes, both on a professional and personal level. He was trying to leave a very rational, cartesian and immaterial work environment to join a world of concrete creation and achievements.
In order to accomplish that energy flow atmosphere, the designer’s first choice was to use healthy materials like lime or mineral painting.
To follow Yin and Yang (one of Feng Shui’s fundamental principles), designers mixed structured flat colors with a freely decorative painting – combining modern urban decorative motifs with classic pieces, like the dining table lamp.
ETTA wall lamps by DelightFULL were the ones chosen to create “the link between the earth and the sky”. The headboard was carefully designed to match the lamps, because “they match the gold reflexions and their mat aspect matches the earth coating”, explained Nicolas Berthou.
