Olson Kundig firm designed this Inspiring Mid-Century home you’re about to see!
This amazing architecture project is signed by one of Architectural Digest’s Top 100: Olson Kundig.Introducing a rugged-meets-refined aesthetic with a laid-back Pacific Northwest spirit.
Set in the remote Methow Valley, this brilliant house named Studhorse responds to the clients’ desire to experience and captivate the surrounding environment throughout all four seasons. The 20-acre site is cuddled in the northern portion of the 60-mile long glacial valley and the buildings are arranged to frame precisely composed views of the surrounding Studhorse Ridge and Pearrygin Lake.
Connecting the tradition of circling waggons, the buildings—four small, unattached structures—are scattered around a central courtyard and pool. With the four buildings set to open to the central courtyard, the design is oriented toward family life and entertaining.
The pool faces the valley and comes to greet us with the most astonishing view in the morning or at sun’s down. Every bit of this design was thought to fit the client’s need to embrace nature and the surrounding environment.
As we walk in you’re able to see that the whole house features wide windows, that expand the inside’s connection with the outside, generating a more inviting and lively atmosphere.
Public areas, including the family room, kitchen and bar are arranged together in the common area pavilion. Private areas—the master bedroom, kids’ bedroom, and den—are more secluded in an adjacent building.
This marvellous mid-century modern home even features a charming bar, ideal for the longer summer evenings.
However, our favourite Studhorse secret has got to be the opening walls! What do we mean by that? Well, it’s easy. Fall in love with it…
