PopJob is the name of the tile collection born from the collaboration between Mirage – porcelain stoneware producer – and the Belgian duo Studio Job. The intention was to explore different ways and techniques to work with ceramics.
Studio Job founders Nynke Tynagel and Job Smeets took inspiration from the natural wooden patterns and decided to print it on tiles, creating a smooth flooring with depth and a sense of texture.
“We approached the wood structure in a more graphic way, exaggerating it and making a pop-like parquet with bright colors, nothing like reality,” explained Tynagel.
The Belgian designers have been involved in other collaborations before, always creating something that’s unusual and peculiar like fast food shaped furniture and tiles decorated with animal skeletons.
