Pantone has decided not to select one hue as the singular Color of the Year for 2021, and instead of that, it chose two distinct colors that represent the mindset with which all of us are approaching the end of 2020. 2020 was a year filled with unknowns and “the selection of two independent colors highlights show different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, conveying the idea that it’s not about one color or one person, it’s about more than one.”
The two shades are PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. Choosing this color duo is a message “of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting,” according to Pantone.
