Shhh It’s Confidential … The Summer Design Trends You Need To Know, According to Experts
Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning your Summer revamp! We tapped experts to share what design trends they are spotting for the next season, and their picks will surprise you—in the best way!
We can’t ignore how lockdown has changed the way we see our homes and how they have become a place of refuge and sanctuary. Home is our safe place, so comfort and coziness are paramount.
Summer may bring scenes of bright colors and patterned pieces, but think again. This year, color experts are predicting that dominante Summer colors will be natural and earthy, drawn from nature – we’re thinking about white, ivory, pale gray, and beige that are usually associated with summer beach homes. But, neutral colorsare gorgeous all year round, which is why they’re one of the biggest interior design trendsfor 2021- and shapes are rounded and cocooning. We all feel we deserve a bit of luxury too, so you can finally light that expensive scented candle you have been saving.
As our homes are still doubling up as offices, zoning and being organized are high on the list of design considerations. We are also more aware of our fragile planet, so we want natural materials and fibres. And let’s not forget our plant babies! Creating our inside jungle brought many benefits and has become essential in home interiors.
This is an extension of Granny Chic and has been all over Instagram for a while. It’s all about a romantic interpretation of rural life and simpler times, using colours, patterns and details your Granny might have had.
It’s a pared-back aesthetic focusing on simple shapes, rattan and natural wood. Stoneware and ceramics are particularly important for this look, in organic shapes, mainly plain in colour and with a homemade feel.
Colous are muted – grey and white, with plain walls, and instead of flowers, place tall, elegant grasses in vases or in baskets.
Earthy tones exude the warmth and comfort we all need these days. Utilizing these shades around your home is sure to create an atmosphere of warmth, as the earthy shades are reminiscent of clay-colored earth and a raw, grounded connection to the land. With this in mind, the shade inspires solid footing for respective journeys ahead.
Terracotta and sand tones have a natural essence that will add a rustic, raw and positive vibe to your home décor or contract design project.
Pantone Color of The Year 2021
Pantone colours are industry standard colour codes that stand for a specific shade, and this year the colours are ‘Illuminating’ yellow and ‘Ultimate Grey’. It’s a great combination of a soft grey neutral with a punchy bright yellow. Pantone says: “Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, the two shades together create a strong and positive vibe.” Yellow is also the colour of happiness and we could all do with a bit of that right now.
All The Curves
There is a significant move towardsrounded shapes in interiors, particularly furniture like this cocooning sofa from Studiopepe’s new collection, Happy Few. There are no hard edges and the round shapes are kinder and more welcoming.
Nature and Nurture
This idea has health, environmental, and economic benefits, and although its name was coined in recent history, indicators of biophilia design have been seen in architecture from as far back as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
The appearance of the natural world, with its rich diversity of shapes, colors, and life, is universally appreciated and brings you several benefits, such as:
– Reduces stress levels – Increases productivity – Reduces sick days – Makes workplaces more attractive – Reduces pollution and cleans the air by reducing noise levels – Boosts creativity levels
Due to all the benefits mentioned above, from a home perspective, people are now more likely to spend more on houses that have views of nature, excellent landscaping, properties that look at water or are waterfront.
Being at home so much makes us look around at what we have and see it in a different light, creating displays and moving things around for a better look. There is something soothing about choosing favourite pieces and arranging them, then re-arranging them, or addingnew pieces. Floating shelves are the perfect way to achieve this and of course it makes the perfect Zoom background!
With working from home looking like a permanent fixture, at least for some of us, we all need to find ways to make our homes work harder by making our spaces more flexible. Living and working in one space can be hard, and switching the dining table from desk to eating at the end of the day isn’t ideal, so try to find an alcove or a section of wall for a desk, no matter how small, so that it feels separate.
Endless Summer Feel
Summer wouln’t be Summer without heading outside and creating great memories with family and friends. The Graphic Collectionhas a wide selection ofpatterned marquee lamps that can be both outside and inside, displayed on the floor or on the wall. Add your initials, create a special message, now you don’t have an excuse for not having a Wow factor!
