Lori Margolis is a renowned New York-based interior designer with a passion for beautiful things. Raised by her mother, an interior designer, Lori grew up with a deep appreciation for design, fashion and art. She spent her childhood exposed to furnishings from all over the world.
“Lori’s talent in creating eclectic glamour for New York’s elite quickly led her to open her own boutique off of Madison Avenue called JBM Vintage, which specialized in only the finest vintage fashion. Her unique eclectic flair landed her features in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Gotham Magazine, The New York Times, Hamptons Magazine, and many others. Lori also worked with some of Hollywood’s most prominent stylists in creating vintage glamour for the Sex and the City movie, and television shows, such as Confession of a Shopaholic and Ugly Betty.”
Once Lori began curating vintage furnishings and home accessories in her boutique, her clients began to turn to her for interior design advice and Lori Margolis Interiors was born. In just five years, Lori Margolis has become known as one of New York’s most creative residential and commercial designers.
With a distinct eclectic, sophisticated, high fashion artistic flair, Lori’s high-end clientele seek her out to create beautiful yet functional living and work spaces.
Lori specializes in all-white interiors and this is her secret! While we aren’t prone to playing favorites, there’s one room style that makes our design hearts burst every time: an all-white interior. While in theory, a bleached-out space should be stark and cold, the visual reality tells a very different story. A milky-hued foundation is the perfect blank canvas for creating a striking space that never gets old. Have you ever seen a white room you didn’t like? We thought not. But there is an art to making it look this effortless.
When it comes to decorating a white interior, there’s one rule Lori swears by for visual interest and warmth: texture.
White is like this a special Secret Service man doing his job without us realizing it. Painting a space white makes us notice the texture, the the depyh of the room. It makes us notice the natural light, the art, the furniture, and the people in the space. It’s pretty magical!
