One of the key elements of modern design is definitely an open floor plan. Flow is crucial when designing a modern house, that is why the team of designers created this totally open living space that incorporates the living room, kitchen and dining room. Keeping these spaces open will allow you to easily connect with guests from any room on the first floor. Many modern homes focus on a clean, neutral palette, and dark colors can work too, as we can see. The designer decided to introduce blacks and shades of gray into this color scheme in a way that doesn’t overwhelm but rather elevates the neutral colors of this area. A crisp black is a great accent color for any space, no doubt about that.

This space embraces contemporary style as well as modern, deciding to go for artful pieces is a great way to create a focal point and a visual interest in a modern space. Because modern dining rooms are often simple and elegant, an oversized abstract wall piece can add the glow the room was needing. Although modern areas often rely heavily on natural materials such as wood, there’s still space for reflective elements as well. The design expert considered adding elements of glass, metal and brass into his modern space.

The all-dark look was a bold choice for the kitchen area, but the style fits in the designer’s goal for the pace which was to create something classic yet fun, edgy yet sophisticated. The marble kitchen islands, and the brown accents do just that.

Here we can see that the team created another focal point in the living room to guide the rest of the décor and center the space. The seats were arranged in a way that allows guests to talk.

Keep it minimal. Modern spaces are simple, however a piece of art can break up the room and keep it from feeling monotonous.
