Europe Day, held on 9 May every year, celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historical ‘Schuman declaration’.
To celebrate it the best way, Inspirations’ Blog thought that would be perfect to get you to know a little more about the Portuguese design, especially about the mid-century Portuguese style!

DelightFULL
DelightFULL is a mid-century Portuguese lighting brand that was inspired by great jazz icons.
Every piece was named after a great jazz musician, singer or composer. Handmade in Portugal, the pieces are customizable! Choose different dimensions, colors and finishes and create your own pieces!
The pieces are made by the Portuguese talented makers and it is impossible to produce two exact identical pieces. DelightFULL’s team usually say that their pieces are unique, because they have their own fingerprint!
DelightFULL is a Portuguese brand that attends very important trade shows just like Maison et Objet, in Paris, iSaloni, in Milan, Light & Building and IMM, in Germany, and much more! DelightFULL’s booth was a hit at this year’s iSaloni! “A Spiral Back in time” was the theme and we can definitely understand why!
Coltrane Pendant Lamp
Coltrane is one of DelightFULL’s best sellers. It was inspired by the jazz icon, John Coltrane. With a minimalist and industrial feeling to it, it is not, however, hard to understand where the mid-century inspiration lies. Coltrane is a simple light, which is handmade in steel. It features a steel cord and a magnetic disc at the top, while down below the canopy is built out of stainless steel, with a gold-plated finish.
Sinatra Floor Lamp
Sinatra Floor Lamp is one of the most iconic pieces from DelighFULL and it is also the brand’s first piece.
Inspired by the music “New York, New York” from Frank Sinatra, it brings us the NY’s bar feeling! With its unique lighting effect, it is a very suitable piece for every room!
DelightFULL’s pieces are perfect when combined with other upholstery pieces, also with a mid-century touch in order to create the perfect and complete mid-century style!
Essential Home
Essential Home was initially one of DelightFULL’s collections. It was inspired by the mid-century design and the cinematographic industry.
You know when people usually say that “It is too good to be true, because it only happens in movies”? Well, here that is possible and you can achieve the fifties’ ambiance you are willing for!
The pieces are also handmade in Portugal and everything is customizable as well!

Essential Home shared its booth at iSaloni 2018, with DelightFULL, and here you can see a little bit of all the novelties the brand presented at the trade show!
Kelly Bar Chair
Kelly Bar Chair is one of the most iconic pieces from Essential Home. Inspired by the movie Casablanca. The body is a full piece of polished brass and features a low back, a foot rail and brown leather on the seat. Besides being stylish, it is made to be comfortable and stand the test of time.
Monocles Sideboard
Monocles sideboard is also one of the most iconic pieces from Essential Home! It is a sideboard built entirely out of solid walnut wood, accented by its gold plated brass front doors that feature a protruding circular design. These circles are then engraved to the back and side of the unit, giving it an extreme character and high end look. It is a perfect furniture piece for retro lovers or mid-century admirers, giving the knurling knobs on the drawers or the tapered legs.
Pull Cast
Pull Cast is one of the latest brands from Covet Group.
The idea is simple! An outfit is only completed and unique when we add accessories, right?
